I was fascinated by all the solutions to Stephanie's problem. In similar
circumstances I used to create a list of the affected records, work out the
keystrokes needed to make the change in Update from a File, Copy them into
my workstation memory (in my case a mac), and then just paste them multiple
times. The keystroke combinations change field information with
replace/editing, quit, save, and retrieve the next record. The only
problem is that in each record the line number may be different, so that
has to be input by hand.
However, now I have found something much better for very large numbers of
bib records (anything over 100) -- Take the III load table course! Then
you can output the records, and re-input them through a little load table
that just fixes the relevant field. this does not (so far as I know) work
on attached records, though.
