Barbara,

We changed to Milcir with no problem and it is wonderful. The staff played
with it a bit before going up and we reviewed mouse and keyboard skills, but
no one has had any problem. They like it so much better and I am sure that
helps with the ease they showed going up. From the first day they have
worked their way through it without problems. Not all of them had Windows
background either. I think you will be surprised how easily it goes.
You will still need Anzio up because Milcirc is only circulation and
you need Anzio up to free a record, or to check on location codes etc. I
think also knowing Anzio was only an ALT Tab away helped...but they didn't
use it.

We are also a member of a county system. We presented only a
2 hour class to staff members from each library and several went up on their
own.

Good luck! I have every confidence that you will love it.

Subject: MillCirc--how long to learn to use?

I have a question for libraries that have migrated from the
character-based Innovative circulation subsystem to MillCirc. Assuming
they have some training from Innovative, how long does it take for
circulation staff to feel comfortable and to be proficient using
MillCirc? In our case, each staff person has 4-8 years experience using
Innovative in the character-based mode and knows the circ subsystem
inside and out.

I've seen messages in the archives regarding how much training is needed
from Innovative, but nothing addressing this issue.

Thanks for your help,
