Currently we operate by running queries to pull out records with recent
cat date and no cdate in the order record, and then rapid update the
cdates.  

This actually works fairly quickly but I agree it is preety poor that we
have to do this at all. I suppose though that the system would not
"know" which attached order needed a cdate update when a cat date was
added to a bibliographic record.

I would think that the BEST way is to build the order record cdate
update routine into the cataloguers database work-flow as they go along,
if you can do that.
