POSITION DESCRIPTION: Circulation Manager
Mid to high 30's, depending on experience, with benefits
The Circulation Services Manager is responsible for the day-to-day
supervision of the Circulation Department, the Fletcher Jones Computing
Center, and the Library physical plant under the direction of the Library
Director. This position supervises 3 FTE staff and 25+ student workers.
DUTIES
*Circulation*
-Create and implement circulation policies and procedures, including:
-Loan periods.
-Course reserves.
-Overdues and fines.
-Audio-visual equipment use.
-Stacks maintenance.
-Emergency situations.
-Assist patrons with circulation needs.
-Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Circulation Supervisors.
-Manage student employee program, including interviewing, hiring, training,
scheduling, general supervision, and tracking payroll.
-Oversee all Circulation staff development.
-Manage and maintain the automated circulation system with the assistance of
the Director of Collections and Cataloging.
-Compile data and prepare analytical reports on circulation and other
library functions.
-Manage vendor relations and library equipment maintenance in cooperation
with Administrative Services Department.
*Library Facility*
-Create and implement policies for the sound maintenance of the facility,
including:
-Opening and closing procedures for the building.
-Monitor the physical condition of the building, report all problems to the
Facilities Services Department, evaluate building improvement needs, and
make recommendations to the Library Director.
-Coordinate non-Library facility use and bookings with the Events Management
Office, the Facilities Services Department, and the Registrar's Office under
the guidance of the Library Director.
-Manage and maintain all building keys.
*Fletcher Jones Computer Lab*
-Supervise and schedule lab technicians.
-Coordinate with Information Technology to support computing services.
-Inform the Help Desk of lab and computing problems.
-Explain Information Technology policies to patrons.
*Other Responsibilities*
-Assist in strategic planning.
-Assist the Library Director in preparing the annual budget.
-Serve on relevant campus committees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-A.A. degree in Library Technology, a Bachelor's degree, or comparable
experience.
-Minimum two years' experience working in Circulation.
-Proven experience supervising paraprofessional and student personnel with
flexibility and firmness.
-Demonstrated knowledge of circulation software programs.
-Experience using Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
-Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills; and
professional presentation.
-Ability to work effectively with resilience and good humor under conditions
of stress.
-Capacity to track and recall detail in a busy environment.
-Ability to perform tasks requiring spatial reasoning and mechanical skills.
-Ability to negotiate effectively with other campus departments and outside
vendors.
-Capacity to lift 50 lbs. and perform occasional light manual labor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience working in an academic library.
-Experience using Innovative Interfaces, Inc. modules.
-Experience with budgets.
