A list of Z39.50 databases is available at
http://www.bookwhere.com/bwusers/bwlibr.html

Some free Z39.50 client & server software is available among the offerings at:
http://www.oss4lib.org/projects/
I don't know if the servers would work with a III catalog or not.

Of course, Innovative's z39.50 client & server modules are sold separately.
Without knowing much about it I have to say that I think that if III's software isn't a native z39.50, they shouldn't really call it a
z39.50 (I'm annoyed at the fact that you have to purchase everything separately).
