PRE-RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR

SENIOR LIBRARY INFORMATION SPECIALIST
INNOVATIVE COORDINATOR

The Washington State Library (WSL) is a team-based organization currently recruiting to fill one full-time Senior Library Information Specialist.  This position is assigned to the Information Technology Services Team, and serves as the Innovative Coordinator.  Responsibilities include coordinating WSL's integrated library systems statewide:  Innovative interfaces system and OCLC bibliographic utility, including activities such as the resolution of database problems, implementation of new applications, migration of data to new systems, selection and installation of replacement software or upgrades, software maintenance, training, and on-site evaluation of resources; serves as WSL liaison with integrated systems vendors, the Innovative system coordinator at TESC and OCLC; and, in conjunction with CLIO consortium members, recommends and/or develops system enhancements needed by WSL.  As Co-Chair of the Innovative Systems Policy Group, works with the staff of WSL to recommend policies and procedures for the effective use of the Innovative system.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

A Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited program and certification by the Washington State Library Commission; or certification by the Washington State Library Commission by examination -AND- three years of experience as a professional librarian.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

One year experience coordinating/administering an integrated online library systems (IOLS).  (Examples of IOLS systems: INNOPAC, DYNIX, INLEX, CARL, NOTIS.)

Experience with hardware and software, including workstations and servers -OR- the ability and desire to learn.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Salary: $3,174 - $4,066 per month, depending on qualifications and agency approval.
