I won't mind continuing if you need someone for serials. (I think it is
important to start addressing the difference between requests for serials as
opposed to Milser. I got several requests in the past year for features
that are available in Milser but not character-based serials. As more and
more people move to Millennium there will be more requests for each module.
And as a corollary, III will be less willing to devote development time to
character-based issues.)

I have been on III since 1988 and on Milser since 9/1999.

Subject: Call for functional experts for 2001

It's time for our annual plea for Functional Expert volunteers for the
upcoming year.

We are looking for persons expert in at least one of each the various
modules of the Innopac to serve as functional experts for this next
year. Your function will be to screen enhancement requests sent by
Innopac libraries, and to eliminate duplicates and suggestions for
things that are already possible on the system, or have been announced
for the upcoming releases. You will also have the opportunity to share
your expertise directly with individual libraries whose requests are
already possible in the Innopac. This last is important as it can
alleviate some unnecessary frustration fairly quickly among our fellow
Innopac-ers.

We are in the process of developing a set of pages for 2001 to which
enhancement requests can be sent via the IUG web pages. As part of this
change, we are taking the opportunity to start a new, fresh list of
requests, and will not be carrying over old requests. If any library
has submitted a request in the past that has not been implemented, that
the library still feels very strongly about, we suggest that the library
resubmit that request.

We need 1 person for each of these modules or subsets of modules. At
the end of the year, the expert will be asked to collect the top 15
requests for the subset or module under his/her responsibility. These
will then be sent to the Innopac coordinators at each library for a
vote. The top 5 in each category getting the most votes will then be
sent to Innovative for consideration.
