The enhancement is for the character based version. I have not seen what
you describe here. I have never seen an "r" in update or any other
command that would effect this. There is a "repeat previous search" in the
staff mode as in the opac.

I recall this actually being promised at one point. If it has been
officially tabled, I am obviously unaware of it. Users are still asking
for it.

Here is the complete text of the request: We would like to see GUICat
display the item record when inputting new items rather than
the summary screen. Sometimes when you enter a record using a template
there might be other changes you want to make to
the item record to complete it. Once you are finished with the template,
GUICat display the summary screen and you have to
select that item to go on editing the record. In the text based system you
do not have to go through an extra step to finish edit an
item record.

It sounds to me like the fact that the item doesn't display until the
template is chosen is where the change is being requested. If GUICAT can't
do something that is part of the text based, that seems like a loss of
functionality.

Many thanks to Gary Hough for his eloquent explanation of the rationale for
this request. It is also one my own library supports as we have
encountered the same problems particularly with subfield k.

If anyone has any added questions feel free to post to the list or contact
me directly. Just don't take it to the Supreme Court :). Remember, you
only need to vote for the top 5.
