IFLS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR TECHNOLOGY/MORE ADMINISTRATOR.
This person is one member of a two-member team who shares responsibility for
the Indianhead Federated Library System (IFLS) technology activities.  The
other member of the team is the IFLS Technology Manager.  The Assistant
Director for Technology/MORE Administrator has lead responsibility in shared
system operations.  Also serves as administrator of the MORE (My Online
Resource) shared automation system per terms of agreement with MORE
libraries. IFLS is a ten county public library system headquartered in Eau
Claire, WI with 57 member libraries.  Thirty are in one of two shared
automation systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to promoting interoperability
between two shared systems, recommending overall technology policies,
drafting and updating a technology plan, negotiating vendor contracts,
marketing shared automation to potential participants, assessing technology
needs of libraries, consulting on technology matters, writing grant
applications and proposals, managing e-rate and TEACH (state funded
technology program) activities.

MORE is a twenty-two member Innovative Interfaces-based shared automation
system.
MORE responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating MORE
operations, budgeting, managing quality control of MORE database, marketing
MORE to potential participants,  documenting practices and procedures,
coordinating training, creating management reports, planning for
changes/expansion, providing leadership and direction for MORE.

Must be able to make presentations and lead meetings.  Must have good
written and oral communications skills.    Travel within system and to state
and national meetings required.  Master's degree in Library Science (highly
desirable) or bachelor's degree in MIS, computer science or related field.
Three years' experience in managing a shared library automation system
required.  Experience in a multi-institutional environment is highly
desirable.  2001 salary $45,469, plus excellent benefits.

IFLS TECHNOLOGY MANAGER.

lead responsibility in work with the BCLIC
shared system, libraries with stand-alone automated systems, with
system-wide telecommunications and technology training.  IFLS is a ten
county public library system headquartered in Eau Claire, WI with 57 member
libraries.  Thirty are in one of two shared automation systems.  MORE is a
twenty two library consortium using Innovative Interfaces software.  BCLIC
is an eight library consortium using Dynix software.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing IFLS office local
area network, managing system-wide  area network, recommending hardware and
software purchases, managing group purchasing project, providing technology
consulting services to libraries, providing technology training, managing
six-station training lab.  Fills in for and works closely with Assistant
Director for Technology.

Education and/or experience: Bachelor's degree in information systems or
related program is highly desirable.  Associate degree with two years
experience in many of the following required: local area networks, wide area
networks, software installation and application, hardware configuration,
training people in computer applications, and personal computer
applications.  Experience in library automation and high speed
telecommunications desired.  Experience working with very small
organizations desirable.  2001 salary is $35,547, plus excellent benefits.
