- Subject: Negative Encumbrance amounts
Hello,
Further to the discussion on negative encumbrances. Our investigation of
the problem at this site earlier in the year lead us to discover that the
funds in the negative had all had orders cancelled twice. This was the
first we realised that you could cancel an order any number of times,
resulting in decommitment on each occasion.
For those wondering how we managed to cancel an order twice, we run this
cancellation procedure on a review file which is sometimes quite large, and
if you exit the process and resume later you start from the beginning
again. Now we know the implications of this we make sure we don't exit OR
we find the record we were up to before starting to cancel again. Reminded
us of the advice from our sage trainer Mac Horn, that the INNOPAC assumes
that you know what you are doing!
We are still on the character based system.
