We print and send hold pickups once a day (in the morning). Before we send them
we check the hold shelf to make sure the item is actually THERE! (to avoid
delays caused by accidental re-shelving, etc). The member of my staff who does
this has recently (last couple of days) noticed that hold pickups (for several
InterLibrary Loan items) are being printed for items which have already been
checked out by the person (i.e. the person with the ILL request has checked
their own record, seen they have an ILL pickup available, and come to collect it
before receiving a notification). Obviously, she (and I) think it is unnecessary
to print a hold pickup notice for something which has already been picked up! Is
this something which has always been the case and has just not arisen (or been
noticed by) us before? Or is it something which others have experienced/noticed
since a particular update, etc? Any input/advice appreciated, as at the moment
I'm not sure if it's a "problem/error" as such, or just a "feature" that we
haven't noticed before!
