Tony,
A couple of things occur to me:
(1) Are you putting blank spaces between the letters and numerals in your class
numbers? Is that how they appear in your catalog? Try the same search without
the spaces.
(2) You can always try searching by MARC tag. Try the search parameter !050
within BS701 and BS1830.9999, etc. (I always add the decimal to the second
number to make sure I get everything.)

Subject: Create lists: multiple call number ranges
I am preparing a list for a faculty member who wants to know our
complete holdings on the Old Testament (he is working on a major
project to order books to update the collection, and wants an
idea of what we have).
I tried to create lists with the following parameters
SUBJECT HAS Bible.|pO.T.|
OR CALL # between BS 701 & BS 1830
OR <repeat for several other call number ranges>
but the list only had items with the first parameter (SUBJECT HAS).
I tried looking on the list archives for questions about creating
lists with call number ranges but found only some contradictory
information. How can I create a list of items within multiple
call number ranges? (I've identified about twenty that are
likely to be entirely Old Testament material).
