Has anyone purchased an interface with Banner from Innovative (I
belive there is such a thing)? If so, how is it working for you. And
where can I get information on how this works (I've tried searching the
Innovative and IUG web sites but found no descriptions).
Here is our scenario:
When we send a bill to the bursar's office, we mark the patron record paid
in Innopac, although technically it has not been paid. We do this to stop
the bills being generated, and to avoid a patron paying it at the library
in-between. However, this does create a problem.
If the book comes back (once it is paid at the bursar's office), there is
no record is printed of an adjustment (this only happens to an item marked
billed in Innopac when we haven't actually billed it). For books paid/lost,
we rely on assistants alerting us to a returned item (this can be risky).
Our campus has a Banner database (while the campus we share the
system with has DataTel) and we believe that an interface with Banner may
be a better way of dealing with this.
You can respond privately (since most of the III users probably
don't have Banner) to share your experiences.
Thank you,
