For those interested in the responses we received to our inquiry about
patron self check-out systems other than 3M, this is what we received:
Pam Ploeger of Dartmouth College reported that she saw a nice set-up at
ALA manufactured by Codeco, a Danish firm, and distributed by Codeco
Canada.
Ann Goodhart of West Vancouver Library reported that Fraser Valley
Regional Library in British Columbia, Canada, had just installed Codeco
machines.
Rob O'Brennan of Fraser Valley reported that all is going well.
An inquiry sent to codeco@xxxxxxxxxx brought a very prompt response
by Franklin Mussche, who is sending a brochure.
One more response. Betty Dong of Arizona State University reported that
their West Campus Library has purchased the FasTrack self check-out
system, and the Science branch on the main campus will be installing the
3M system. These would be people to check with later, but neither system
is up and running as of 8/15/00.
If you would like to communicate directly with the respondees, please
contact me at nancy.compton@xxxxxxxxxx for email addresses.
