You cannot link a bib record to a course record, so you have to attach
an item record to the bib and link this item to the course record. The
item record does not have to contain a barcode since it is possible to
search by the title when attaching an item to a course record. We
suppress the item record if there is an electronic article attached.
If you don't suppress the item WebOPAC displays both item location/status
and the "electronic copy available" message from ER.

The title that displays in course reserve is the title of the article
keyed in ER but entries are sorted by the title of the bib record. If
they are identical there's no problem, but if they are different you
could end up with a strange filing order.

Most of our course reserve items are suppressed from public view at
present but if you go to our WebOPAC http://library.bangor.ac.uk and
search for Lecturer: horne, you will see what I mean. The second course
record (Group B) is a good example. We decided to include the author's
name in front of the title in course reserve display but the entries are
still sorted by the 245 field of the bib record.
