- Subject: RE: Fortres Users?
We have been using Fortres for several years in our PC Lab.
We haven't installed it on the catalog cluster yet, but expect
to shortly. We have no real reason to expect any problems
with the catalog from it, as there haven't been any problems
with it and anything else on the web.

The only thing I would like as an improvement would be if it
would allow us to stop people from saving internet bookmarks -
those I have to go in and clean up from time to time.
You SHOULD already be able to do this.
IE saves bookmarks in C:\Windows\Favorites as individual Internet
shortcuts.
Netscape saves them in C:\Program
Files\Netscape\USERS\DEFAULT\bookmark.htm
If you set the file (for Netscape) or directory (for IE) to be
READ ONLY
via Fortres' file security, your patrons should NOT be able to write
to them.
Or you could clear them out at login time with the following:
c:\windows\command\deltree /y "C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Users\default\Cache\*.*"
c:\windows\command\del "C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Users\default\bookmark.htm" >nul
c:\windows\command\del "C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Users\default\netscape.hst" >nul
c:\windows\command\deltree /y "c:\windows\favorites\*.*"
c:\windows\command\deltree /y "c:\windows\recent\*.*"
c:\windows\command\deltree /y "c:\windows\temp\*.*"
