Tammy and III users-

I would be interested in hearing how it was you got this printer to work to
begin with. We also recently purchased a 4000 series printer but have not been
able to use the 'P'rint command from the Innopac to access it. This is
different from the situation you describe in that we want to use this printer
as a standard staff printer- both for printing from the Innopac and for
printing Word documents, email, spreadsheets and other items. I talked with
III and they said the only way to use a network printer would be to have them
set it up as a system printer (for a charge) and use the Innopac as the print
server. I have a hard time seeing why we should pay III for a service that we
currently provide for ourselves through our campus IT support (i.e. our own
print servers, addressing etc.). It seems that many libraries, if not most
organizations, today use network laser printers for their printing.

As for the firewall issue it depends on how your campus network is set up. My
experience with network security issues has taught me that it's best to
include the network administrators in resolving these issues. That has saved
us a lot of headaches and miscommunication.

Thanks and good luck!

Matt
