I hae done this using Win NT 4.0. We connect the serial cable from the
Percon
to the PC serial port and use the III software to download the file from the
Person to the PC.
On the PC we run winqvt's FTPD (ftp server). That allows us to retrieve the
file via FTP (IFTS) from the PC. There are other ftpd programs and some
versions of
NT may have one installed by default (if the tcp services were selected
during
installation, I think). There are many freeware ftp servers on the net. Good
idea to only run them when you need to transfer data and to set some
passwords.
Otherwise there could be some security issues affecting the PC (not the
innopac).

At my former employer, we had one of the Innovative portable barcode
readers, and it came with a bit of PC software. Using that software, the
portable barcode reader could upload its data to the PC over a serial
connection, and then we would use IFTS to get the data from the PC to the
INNOPAC system over the network.
I had WinNT on my machine at workstation there and it worked fine.
