PRE-RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR
Senior Library Information Specialist
The Washington State Library is a team-based organization currently recruiting to fill one full-time Senior Library Information Specialist. This position is assigned to the Government & Washington Information (GOVWA) Team, and serves as the Federal Depository Coordinator, specialist in federal government publications and government information. This position provides personalized library service to multiple customer groups; coordinates with selective depositories in Washington State and Alaska; has expertise in the use of multi-format federal documents; and oversees federal government collection projects and efforts for increasing access to federal government information.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited program and certification by the Washington State Library Commission; or certification by the Washington State Library Commission by examination -AND- three years of experience as a professional librarian.
The successful candidate must possess:
Two years professional librarian experience working within a federal-related depository library program
-OR- Two years professional librarian experience in Public Services working with Federal Government documents in all media.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated ability to manage a program or project including day-to-day operations as well as long-term planning and meeting deadlines.
Initiative, self-starting, enthusiastic, energetic person to promote an atmosphere of cooperation that balances people and technology.
Technical Services experience using electric databases such as OCLC, Innovate, Lexus, etc.
Experience providing advanced reference services to a variety of external customer groups.
Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
Salary: $36,984 - $47,376 per year, depending on qualifications and agency approval.
