Technical Services Librarian


Ohio Dominican's Spangler Learning Center seeks qualified candidates for the
position of Technical Services Librarian.

This position manages the library's serials collection and catalogs all
library materials (copy and original cataloging).  The library uses the
Dewey Decimal Classification system and OCLC for cataloging, is automated
with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. and is a member of OhioLINK.  This position
supervises 2 to 3 student workers.

In addition to cataloging and serials duties, this position works 7 hours of
reference per week, including one evening and may participate in some
library instruction.  The successful candidate will also serve as library
liaison to two divisions of faculty, assisting them in collection
development activities and general use of the library.

Required:  MLS from ALA accredited institution.  Strong oral, written, and
interpersonal skills.  Ability to work as part of a team as well as
individually.  Commitment to excellence in service.  Knowledge of AACR2,
MARC formats, authority control, LCSH and DDC.

Highly Desirable:  2 to 5 years cataloging/serials experience.  Creativity
in problem solving, the planning of special projects, and in the application
of technology to the cataloging process and serials management.  Ability to
manage change.  Academic library experience.  Prior experience with the
Innovative Interfaces, Inc. system.

Ohio Dominican College is a private, liberal arts college serving 2000
students.  The library holdings include 135,000 volumes and 500 current
periodical, newspaper, and serials subscriptions.  In addition to the
library, other departments in the innovative Spangler Learning Center
include:  Computing Services, the Multimedia Center, and the Academic
Center.  All work closely together and make up the division of Learning and
Information Services.
