Sound like a case for an enhancement request.  This must be a "feature" of
using the call number from the bib record.  In our Innopac, we copy and
paste the call number into the item record, and it prints fine, no
adjustment needed.  I assume there's no space between 14 and th [14 th],
which is the way it would print on separate lines from the item record.  It
would seem like if it can print fine from the item record, it should be
able to take the same information from the bib and print it correctly.

Not a solution, just an observation.  HTH,
