We too had a favorable experience. It was short, but then our database is small (95,000 bibs). I started the morning with a full, verified backup, then proceeded with the commit phase and it was finished by 11:30. I have been doing the upgrades since no.7, and this is the first time that the printed directions matched exactly what the screens said. So, yes it was pretty painless.
