Coordinator of Technical Services 
Western Oregon University Library

POSTITION INFORMATION: 
Department:	  Library 
Salary Range:  $39,000 annually (minimum) 
Benefits include choice of medical, dental and retirement plans, 180 
 hours of annual vacation, 96 hours of sick leave per year. 
Contract:          12 month, tenure track, Assistant Professor

QUALIFICATIONS: 
MLS degree from ALA-accredited institution, second Master's  
degree preferred and required for tenure.  Knowledge of AACR2r,  
LCSH, LC classification system, MARC formats and familiarity with  
emerging standards for electronic resources.  Ability to work  
collegially with well developed analytical, organizational, supervisory, 
 leadership and communications skills.  Outstanding public service  
orientation.  Preferred: Experience with Innovative Interfaces  
INNOPAC system; Two years supervisory experience and three  
years recent cataloging experience using online systems;  
Reference and/or teaching experience 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The duties of the Coordinator of Technical Services include: 

 *  Responsible for overall management and supervision of the  
Technical Services unit including acquisitions, serials, cataloging,  
database management and processing.   
 *  Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating  
operations; setting priorities; and hiring, training, and evaluating up  
to four FTE support staff and three FTE student workers.   
 *  Defines policies and procedures in keeping with national  
standards and current best practices.   
 *  Works with teams to staff the Reference desk, and participates in 
 Collection Development and User Education.   
 *  Reports to the Library Director.
