Hi everyone!
I'm attempting to remove multiple instances of 945s from our marc records in the catalog (Millennium), but global update keeps crashing on me; I suspect it may have to do with the number of instances in the list I created - but the list is only 50 bib records! I find I have to scale down my selection to between 5-10 bib records in order to "process them away". Obviously, this isn't ideal.
Does anyone have any ideas? Should I open a call with III? Is there something I'm missing? I don't want to have to resort to exporting-marcedit-reimporting records, but I will if I have to.
Thanks for any thoughts and/or suggestions!
Lee

Just a follow up - for whatever reason, I have since been able to delete 945 fields from our records, some as many at 25K - so all appears well now. Not sure what was going on there....

This is a complete wag, but I recall experiencing something similar to this a long while back. There is a remote possibility that it is the characters in one or several of the 945s that you are dealing with. I remember I had a two character string that was causing global to crash. I won't mention the string here (for obvious reasons). I'm probably way off base with this as an answer, but thought it worth mentioning. Whether or not this is the case, I would definitely open a ticket. Best of luck getting that sussed out.

Hi Lee - thanks for your thoughts; something to consider. I did find that I was able to delete from a list containing 1000 records, but global update started crashing again at the 5000 mark. I've opened a call with III and hope they can do something - I've got millions of records to process.....yow!
