Me again with the other side of label printing for checkins. Our staff currently use a VERY old dot-matrix printer which i swapped out for another TSC 247 (the same model for our monograph labels with print templates).
When i attempt to print a checkin label - nothing happens. We don't use print templates for checkin labels and i've turned off the setting for the pocket label (which works fine on the old printer).
I have set the printer to be the default in windows, since that's the only purpose of the machine/printer and have set up the printing preferences to use this local printer, with settings for the small spine labels. again, it's like Millennium doesn't know about the printer and no matter what i've done, nothing happens.
I can see in the iiirunner.exe screen that the data is being sent, but there is no response from the printer.
I figure I am missing something incredibly basic with the setup so am asking for any thoughts and assistance from the gurus out there!
Thanks,
Lee

Label printers are tricky to set up, even apart from Millennium. Your printer vendor may be able to give you some help. Here's what I can offer:

1) There is usually a calibration procedure in the printer itself, in which the printer senses the height and spacing of the label stock. Often this is done by turning on the printer while holding down the feed button. Check the manual.

2) The printer driver, from Control Panel:Devices and Printer, must be configured exactly for the size of the label you are using. This may require setting up a custom (user-defined) page size (think of a label as a page). Be sure the page size is set up in both a) Preferences, and b) Advanced:Printing Defaults.

3) Use Windows Notepad to test printing. Do Printer Setup and make sure the correct printer is selected and page size is set. Apply those changes. Then set up the document to print with minimum margins, no header or footer, and a few short lines of text. Set font to Courier New 12 point. Print the document.

4) Repeat fiddling with steps 2 and 3 until Notepad prints what you expect.

5) Move on to printing with Millennium.
