Hi,

We've set up a new printer as our standard printer for the title paging list. But it won't work with our print templates. That's the only thing not working. I've searched through the forum and lists and found that print templates needed a PostScript capable printer, which this should be (LaserJet Pro M402dn from HP).

Any suggestions on what to check for now? :(

Kind regards,

Hi Marie,

You need to select the Printer for each print template. File, Select Printer, Print Templates. From the Output Type drop down box you would select the Print Template Name, then select Printer from the Select print method drop down box. This will open an additional window where you can select your new printer. There is also an option to make it the default for the Template you have selected.

I hope this is helpful.

Hi Diane,

Thank you! I've tried this but unfortunately it didn't resolve the issue. I still cannot print anything with print templates.

Kind regards,
Marie

Marie - are other things printing fine to your new printer? How about Sierra-related printouts that aren't using print templates? Would you be able to share a copy of your print template for the paging lists?

Thank you, Catie!
I've made our IT dept to install the same drivers as on the old one, but your reply made me check again and now I found special drivers for PostScript! Those were installed on the printer but not activated and when I chose those - it worked. It printed with Print Templates...! Magic. :)

A really big thank you to all of you who replied as well! All of your thoughts and tips were useful when I investigated. Thank you! <3

Kind regards,
Marie

This is a long shot but have you installed a post script driver? Even though the printer is post-script capable, you still need a post script driver for print templates. We had issues where our print template notices would sometimes not clear from the print queue after printing and would print again later. Advice from Innovative was to try a post script driver. We now print to the printer via a print queue on the network using a post script driver and (touch wood) we haven't experienced the re-print issue since.

Yes, the printouts that don't use print templates work just fine with the new printer.
And every printout, including those with print templates, work as a charm with the old printer. We haven't made any changes to the templates. Not even the default template from III work with the new printer (I hoped it could be our custom templates that were the problem but no). It seems to be something with the new printer not liking jrxml...?

I've attached two templates for our paging title (?). We print one slip for each reserved book and then print a new one when we check in the item.

I'm thankfull for all suggestions and ideas! :)

Regards,
Marie
