We're probably going to move our Sierra system to Innovative's hosting this year and I'm concerned about encrypting SIP2 traffic from our Bibliotheca self-checks to the server. Innovative offers a VPN to hosted servers but the cost to set it up is very high. I see that the Sierra SIP2 server supports an encrypted connections using stunnel; has anyone set that up, or does anyone have any thoughts about that, or about anything else related to this?

We are also very interested in the new stunnel option. Thanks for asking about it, Phil!

Hi both

We have it installed on our Bibliotheca Smart Serve 1000's, I tested it with Wireshark and the encryption is working.

1. Open port 45550 - this two two times of asking and the a few days until it was eventually opened (we are hosted)
2. Check and adjust SELFCHECK rules in Limit Network Access - we left ours as they were
3. Install and configure stunnel :
--------------------------
[selfcheck]
client = yes
accept = 5550
connect = [yourcatalogue]:45550 ;
--------------------------------
We haven't done below as yet:

The next lines are optional, for checking the server's SSL cert ;
verifyChain = yes ;
CAfile = ca-certs.pem ;
checkHost = catalog.library.org

4. Configure the SIP2 client - in your selfcheck.ini

Selfcheck.ini - these lines are not listed all together but these are the lines to change .

----------------------------------

[HOSTCONNECTION]

Unit Name = domainname of bibliotheca kiosk (i.e. what you have in the LNA)

HostAddress = IP of bibliotheca Kiosk (i.e. what you have in the LNA)

Port = 5550

SIPUserName = add sip2 login

SIPUserPassword = add sip2 password

SendSIP2Login = 0 change to 1

SendPasswordCode = 0 change to 1

-----------------------------------------------

we are going to try our Book sorter next week.

hope this helps

all the best

Caroline.
