I have created a bat file to automatically run an SQL file that selects hotspots that are overdue by ten days or more.

We were wondering if there is a way to write back into the patron message field into those items records a message like “ this hotspot has been disable, please call helpdesk to enable” after getting the results. The results are stored in an xlsx file.

Hi Kate,

I have developed a full Patron CRUD application in C#.

I am just about to put it on GIT once I adapt it for v5 of the API - very soon.

Please feel free to contact me directly via email for further information.

Thanks, the only thing is I am not sure how to use the api. I couldn't find any examples of writing back using the api in an asp.net c# format.

You can use the Sierra API to write data to patron records, but not SQL. The SQL views are read-only.

Hi Kate,

The SQL technology is strictly read only in the case of Sierra so there is no way to alter patron or item records that I know about using queries. On the other hand you might accomplish your goal by pulling out the patron's email or phone number and sending them messages via email or text once you have the data out. This could be incorporated into your batch file or something like a Python script.
