This problem is an isolated one and not sure where to start our network people or III.

We have a specific staff computer/computer location (happened when it was Win 7 and now Win 10) that will randomly print receipts (date due slips specifically) via the attached receipt printer (Local > Epson) connected by USB AND/IN ADDITION TO a specific printer that is a choice in Sierra (Limit Network Access/List of Printers choice, assigned to the login). Staff doesn't notice right away because this printer is located in another area (and doesn't get used a whole lot).

The logon credentials are always the same (context user, permissions). Staff go to File > Select Printers and choose Receipt - select Local and the EPSON receipt printer; For Standard, they select Local and the local HP LaserJet that's attached to the workstation. I have verified that they have not chosen the printer that is in the list of Sierra printers. What happens is they check out an item and close patron record, receipt prints to the Epson AND this other printer. Not sure how it's printing to 2 different printers at the same time, one that wasn't even chosen. Both the haunted Sierra printer and the staff workstation are on the same network. The printer has a static IP address (which is what I have in the list of printers) though the workstation itself does not (same network though). Any ideas? Or do I just have a printer that's so eager to do some printing that it's taking on print jobs not assigned to it?

We're on 3.4.0_10 and will be upgrading to 4.0 in mid-September. I didn't see it as a known issue to 3.4.

Hi Alison,
Not sure if you have resolved this one yet but thought I'd try a suggestion just in case. Have you tried checking the printing options for the contextual user and the person/people adding their permissions? In the Admin app, both contextual users and other users can have default print settings. Is it possible that the contextual user and the staff entering their permissions have different options? Another place to check is the Basic info tab for the contextual user and see what printers are assigned. Could it be a possibility that the contextual user only has the other printer assigned to it and not the receipt printer?
Taking stabs in the dark here but who knows, maybe we will get lucky.
