Good morning, oh wise hive mind!

We're trying to get our library set up with Hoopla (a product of Midwest Tapes). We're running into sort of a brick wall with authentication.

They want to use an API to authenticate our patrons, but they are asking for which port number they need to connect to, and they're not asking for an API Key to be issued. This leads me to worry that they have something that works with what we in IUG land might call "the old Patron API" - a product that Dartmouth never purchased. The people I've talked to are pretty non-committal about that bit.

I know that they also support LDAP. That's not our first choice but may be what I'm stuck with.

In short, has anyone tried to set up Hoopla without using the old Patron API - and if so, how did it go?

Thanks, and have a good one!

I have no solution but I strongly suspect you're correct about them expecting to use the legacy Patron API. We connect to hoopla via the legacy Patron API and just getting them to use the SSL version took a lot of troubleshooting.

Many of our libraries provide Hoopla and we never gave them an API key so I'm pretty sure you're right and they're using the old version.

We use the Patron API purchased years ago for Hoopla authentication. I have it set up with SSL. We did not have a problem. You have to give Hoopla the correct port for SSL. It can be found here https://csdirect.iii.com/sierra/kb/article.php?cat_id=6&art_id=19 under Patron API Server via SSL.

Sorry, re-read. You want to use the API Key. So I am retracting my previous reply.
They will use SIP2 if you have a license.
