We are in the process of implementing the ILL module. Right now we use Worldcat Discovery where our patrons place interlibrary loan requests and we fill them via OCLC along with Clio for management of the requests. The circulation staff who will be using the module would like to continue to offer WCD ill and not use the ILL patron functions on the web for patrons requesting ILLs. Basically they only want to use the backend of the ILL system for requests.

Is anyone not using the web forms via the opac for ills but using the staff end for processing ILL requests? Is this something that works well or does it cause problems? I guess what I am asking is it possible to use the module without the web portion and does it work well enough for a small sized ILL department?

Any insights appreciated.

Hi Andrea,

The problem with the Innovative ILL module ( and the reason why we stopped using it) is its lack of interoperabilty with other systems.

So I may be wrong but I can't see how you could use non-III web forms to pass requests into the staff area of the III ILL module. The Pass2ILL feature comes closest but this only enables cancelled InnReach requests to be passed to ILL.

Cheers,

Bruce.

Thanks Bruce. I am starting to see the limitations of the module.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for. We don't have Innovative's ILL module. We use our own web forms for ILL requests and then use WorldShare ILL to process the requests. The forms are built with JotForm and are not a part of the OPAC/Discovery layer search results. Patrons have to go to the forms and fill them out here: http://library.artcenter.edu/screens/interlibraryloan.html when they want to request something.

Thanks Jennifer. That is one option we can investigate. Your forms look great. I haven't used JotForm but it looks like a good way to go.
